PINE ISLAND, Texas — February 2, 2026
The Pine Island City Council marked its February 2, 2026 meeting with the presentation of three special proclamations recognizing community service, state partnership, and decades of dedication to the city.
First, the Council proclaimed the month of March 2026 as American Red Cross Month in Pine Island. The proclamation honors the American Red Cross for its ongoing commitment to disaster relief, emergency preparedness, and humanitarian assistance both locally and nationwide. City officials encouraged residents to recognize the organization’s vital role and to consider volunteering or supporting its mission.
In a second proclamation, the City of Pine Island recognized the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for its efforts in installing new city limit signs. The Council expressed appreciation for TxDOT’s cooperation and support, noting that the signage enhances safety, visibility, and civic identity for Pine Island residents and visitors alike.
The meeting concluded with a proclamation honoring longtime resident and city supporter Bonnie Levandowski for her lifetime of dedication and service to the community. In recognition of her lasting contributions, the Council officially proclaimed February 2 as “Bonnie Levandowski Day” in the Town of Pine Island. Council members shared words of gratitude, highlighting her commitment, leadership, and positive impact on the city over the years.
Mayor and Council members emphasized that these proclamations reflect Pine Island’s appreciation for service—whether through national organizations, state partnerships, or the lifelong efforts of individuals who help shape the community.
